Student Dormitories

J. F. Oberlin maintains two international dormitories, where students from many countries around the world live together with Japanese students. The international dormitories are not just places to live but also have an important educational function: they are miniature global communities where students from a variety of ethnic, cultural, and linguistic backgrounds learn to coexist and cooperate. Various events are scheduled throughout the year, precipitating lively exchanges between Japanese students and students from other countries. Both international dormitories are located just a few minutes’ walk from Fuchinobe Station on the JR Yokohama Line and from J. F. Oberlin’s Planet Fuchinobe Campus (PFC). Students with classes at J. F. Oberlin’s nearby Machida Campus can take a free school bus from Fuchinobe Station. The international dormitories have a combined capacity of 329 people. Most rooms are single-occupancy, with some double-occupancy rooms also available. Rooms come equipped with air-conditioners, showers, toilets, refrigerators, beds, Internet access, and other amenities.
