In an effort to provide opportunities to listen to real English outside the classroom, this year the English 365在线体育投注-【官网直营】@ Program, a part of the university’s Department of Foreign 365在线体育投注-【官网直营】@ Education, will continue to offer lectures in the ELP Lecture Series. In this ongoing series, each lecturer chooses an accessible topic and explains it in English which is neither too difficult nor too easy.

The eleventh lecture in the series, “Cycling: the Good, the Bad, and the Ugly,” will be held on Wednesday, May 27. In this talk you will learn about the history of the bicycle and the creation and growth of bicycle racing through pictures, videos and real objects. BMX racing, mountain bike racing, road racing, and velodrome racing—each one an Olympic sport—will all be discussed. Women's and men's bike racing will be compared, and all kinds of doping will be explained by ELP teacher Chris Madden, who has over ten years’ bicycle racing experience. Please bring your curiosity!

The ELP Lecture Series is open to students, faculty, staff, and anybody else whose English skills could use a bit of a challenge. This is a great opportunity for you to have a little overseas study experience right here at home. The first ten lectures in the ELP Lecture Series can be watched here:
